Education, Not Indoctrination
What is my call to serve?
I chose to serve because I believe in limited government and see far too much overreach in education at the local level. School boards are most effective when we put students first. That means cutting red tape, protecting local control and ensuring our district is a good steward of taxpayer dollars so that funds reach the classroom where they belong.
When making decisions, I use a simple three-prong test:
Does this put students first?
Does this respect parents and protect local control from government overreach?
Does this ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely?
If the answer is “yes,” then it’s a step in the right direction for Oconee County.
Meet Meghan
I am a Christian and believer in Jesus Christ, first and foremost. Secondly, I am a American- standing firm on conservative values of the United States Constitution. Lastly, I am a proud Walhalla High School Alumnus (Go Razorbacks)! Native to Oconee County, I was raised on a my family’s cattle farm and learned the value of hard work and service early on. Today, I serve as Chair of the Oconee County School Board, while also own and operate my company, Oconee Hospitality and help carry on our family cattle farm, Tokeena Angus. My background as a teacher, business owner and community leader drives my commitment to ensuring we maintain strong schools and strong conservative values. I currently live in Mountain Rest, South Carolina with my husband, Jared.
My Priorities
Restoring the Foundations in Our Schools
Our schools should be places where students not only learn academics but also the timeless principles that built this nation. As a leader and believer, I am committed to seeing the U.S. Constitution and the Ten Commandments return to our classrooms. These aren’t just documents of history or faith — they are the very foundations of liberty, morality and civic responsibility.
We live in a time when government overreach and cultural confusion often distract from what truly matters. By restoring these guiding truths, we can remind our students where freedom comes from, why personal responsibility matters, and how faith and values shape strong communities.
👉 Here’s how you can help:
Get involved: Encourage your church, civic group or community club to stand with us.
Stay engaged: Sign up for updates so you’ll know when opportunities arise to make your voice heard.
Together, we can ensure the next generation knows the truths that make America strong.
2025 Cover Our Campus In Prayer
Sunday, August 10, 2025
This annual gathering is a community-led effort inviting parents, students, teachers, pastors, law enforcement and local leaders to unite in prayer for the safety, success and well-being of our students and staff as we begin a new school year.
Against Mask Mandates in Pandemic
During the re-opening of schools in the 2021/2022 school year, I spoke out against masking children during the surge of Covid cases at the beginning of the school year. The mask policy did not pass and we kept our children un-masked for the remainder of the pandemic. In a world largely governed by state and federal bureaucratic processes, this was a huge conservative win for our county’s schools.
